Our Verdict

If you frequent Walmart, this card is a no brainer. For the first year, you get 5% back in the store, as well as 5% back on delivery or pickup orders. That alone makes the card worth it, but you get another 2% back on restaurants and travel. There are no foreign transaction fees or other fees that you need to worry about. For a card without an annual fee, it packs a lot in.

You do need good to excellent credit to be approved for this card, so it might not be attainable for those new to the credit card game. However, this is a great option for families or those that need to buy in bulk, as there is no limit on the rewards earned.

Another thing to consider is that the cash back comes in the form of Capital One points. While you can certainly redeem them as cash back, you can also use them for travel or to make purchases, so it gives you more flexibility than some other cards on the market right now.

Best Suited for:

Group-11597-2

Digital Junkie

Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, Apple TV, Spotify, Hulu, you've got them all. There is so much high-quality content to stream out there, and you want to see and hear it all. And you have the best electronic equipment to stream it on. You also try to save on utilities for your digital household. You deserve to get some cash back for all of this (especially being ahead of the game with finding the next binge-worthy show.)

Group-11597-2

Pantry Stocker

You are not happy unless you have a kitchen full of food. You are the designated grocery person in your household, and you are good at it. But what you really like is getting cash back for spending in this category.

Hidden perks

Walmart carries just about anything, from groceries to furniture to sporting equipment. If you do a lot of shopping at Walmart, it just makes sense to have a card that works for you. Capital One is a great partner for this card, and you cannot find another cash back card that will give you any more at the superstore than this one.

Pair this card with:

Costco Anywhere Visa Credit Card by Citi

citi-Premier

This is an excellent cashback card for purchases on groceries or home furnishings, so we recommend pairing it with a points-based card for travel. You could also pair it with a cash back card for another superstore, like the Costco Anywhere Visa Credit Card by Citi. It really comes down to your spending habits on how you get the most return.

Cashback Example

If you spend $2000 a month either in Walmart stores (for your first year) or online at Walmart.com, you could get $100 back. That adds up to $1200 per year, or 120,000 points. For big families, it is very easy to spend this amount on groceries and other necessities, so it certainly helps offset the cost by getting some back. These numbers are only for Walmart spending and do not include cashback earned on restaurants or travel.

ProsCons
