Our Verdict

If you frequent Walmart, this card is a no brainer. For the first year, you get 5% back in the store, as well as 5% back on delivery or pickup orders. That alone makes the card worth it, but you get another 2% back on restaurants and travel. There are no foreign transaction fees or other fees that you need to worry about. For a card without an annual fee, it packs a lot in.

You do need good to excellent credit to be approved for this card, so it might not be attainable for those new to the credit card game. However, this is a great option for families or those that need to buy in bulk, as there is no limit on the rewards earned.

Another thing to consider is that the cash back comes in the form of Capital One points. While you can certainly redeem them as cash back, you can also use them for travel or to make purchases, so it gives you more flexibility than some other cards on the market right now.

And you have the best electronic equipment to stream it on. You also try to save on utilities for your digital household. You deserve to get some cash back for all of this (especially being ahead of the game with finding the next binge-worthy show.)

Pantry Stocker

You are not happy unless you have a kitchen full of food. You are the designated grocery person in your household, and you are good at it. But what you really like is getting cash back for spending in this category.

What we like about this card

The Capital One Walmart Rewards credit card offers impressive rewards, especially for Walmart shoppers. The card provides robust cash back incentives, including 5% back on purchases, including pickup and delivery, and on in-store purchases when using Walmart Pay for the first 12 months.

Additionally, the card offers 2% cashback on purchases at Walmart stores after the introductory period and 2% on dining and travel. There’s no annual fee, along with 1% cash back on all other purchased beyond the aforementioned, making it an appealing option for frequent Walmart shoppers seeking rewards without extra costs.

Drawbacks and considerations

While the rewards structure for Walmart purchases is attractive, the card’s rewards outside of Walmart might not be as competitive compared to other cards specializing in dining, travel, or other categories. After the initial promotional period, the 2% cash back rate for Walmart in-store purchases might not be as beneficial to those who primarily shop elsewhere.

How to decide if this card is right for you

Deciding on the Capital One Walmart Rewards card depends on your shopping habits and preferences. If you frequently shop at Walmart or, especially during the introductory period, the high cashback rates can yield substantial rewards.

Additionally, if you prefer a card without an annual fee and are content with redeeming rewards exclusively at Walmart, this card might be a good fit. However, if your spending is primarily outside of Walmart or if you seek more versatile rewards that can be used at various retailers or for different purposes, exploring other rewards cards might be more beneficial.
